Adam CohenCreativity and Control

Adam Cohen is the featured presenter at the Carolina Adobe User Group meeting on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 2:30 p.m. in Dey Hall’s Toy Lounge. A senior vice president and creative director at Capstrat in Raleigh, Cohen has worked in cartooning, illustration, animation, filmmaking, graphic design, web design, advertising, and stand-up comedy. His daily comic strip “Herschel” was chosen for syndication by Creators Syndicate in 1997; he co-created a pilot for “Major Flake,” a show on Cartoon Network, in 2001; his live-action short film “Love Scene” won “Best Narrative Short” at the 2004 Ohio Independent Film Festival; and he has created advertising for some of the country’s top advertising agencies on accounts such as Taco Bell, Levi’s, Bank of America, Toyota and Orville Redenbacher popcorn.
Cohen’s presentation topic will be “Creativity and Control.”There will also be a door prize.

Interactive InDesign and Flash to Android

Please join the Carolina Adobe Users Group (CAUG) for a presentation by Jason Whitley and Kerry O’Sullivan of ITS-Teaching and Learning Interactive.

Kerry and Jason will demonstrate interactive publishing with InDesign and how to use Flash and AIR to make an Android application. Click here for Flash slide deck. As time allows, we’ll also demonstrate new features in PhotoShop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver since the release of CS5.

Presenting… Presenter!

Join the Carolina Adobe Users Group (CAUG) on June 16th at 2:30 in Room G101, 440 West Franklin Street, for a presentation by Rob Moore and Greg Whisenhunt of the UNC School of Government Instructional Support team.

Rob and Greg will provide an overview of Adobe Presenter and how they have used it for delivering online and self-paced materials for distance learning. They will also share their experiences with developing the online training program for the North Carolina State Ethics Commission which was done in Adobe Presenter and can be seen at: http://www.ethicscommission.nc.gov/education/eduOnline.aspx

Topics include:

  • Importing and syncing audio with PowerPoint animations
  • Overview of quizzing functionality
  • Adding video
  • Publishing to a Connect Pro server or for web delivery

Rob Moore is an Instructional Designer with the School of Government Instructional Support team and has worked at UNC since 2004. He joined the Instructional Support team in September 2010 after spending 5 years managing the UNC Foreign Language Resource Center. In his current position, Rob works with faculty that are interested in integrating innovative technology to support their instruction in both face-to-face and online environments. Rob holds a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science from UNC and has completed various trainings and certificates in distance learning, including the LEARN NC Online Instructor course.

Greg Whisenhunt is a Multimedia Developer with the School of Government Instructional Support team. Prior to working for the School of Government, Greg worked two years at a design firm and worked on projects ranging from web development to multimedia production. Greg has been at the School since 2008 and has over 9 years of design experience with an emphasis in motion graphics and interactive design. To date, Greg has collaborated with School of Government faculty to produce over 80 e-learning modules and webinars as well as several video vignettes. Greg holds BFAs in Interactive Design and Motion Graphics from Savannah College of Art and Design and an AAS in Computer Electronics from ECPI College of Technology.

your InDesign workflow

Join the Carolina Adobe Users Group (CAUG) on April 27th for a presentation by Nicolette DeGroot, Creative Director, UNC-Chapel Hill Department of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery.

Nicolette will pass along things she’s found to be most helpful, and demonstrate the many ways this robust program can cut hours off design time by letting the program do the work for you.
